Personality & Traits

General Overview Adelayd is friendly though not very outgoing. She prefers to keep to herself most times. She struggles with remaining professional when on duty, but is generally able to keep most untoward thoughts or comments to herself. She has a good bedside manner and is empathic.

Her years aboard the smuggling ship helped her develop her empathic abilities. She did not gain the telepathic abilities of her mother, but can sense the emotions of those around her. She also learned how to read a crowd and keep track of a target in a crowded place. She has a photographic memory, though generally does not let others know this.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths: understanding the mood of the room, photographic memory (it's not perfect, but she's generally accurate with her recollection), adaptable, empathic

Weaknesses: professionalism is...lacking..., feels uneasy planet-side or when not on a ship or shuttle, mild agoraphobia.
Ambitions Adelayd currently doesn't have any ambitions. She's just graduated out of Starfleet Medical, which was her ambition to this point, and has yet to decide where she really wants to take her life.
Hobbies & Interests Reading, movies from all eras, tinkering with small electronics.

Personal History Adelayd Finn Olivier is the only child born to Fynn and Rweena Olivier, the owners and operators of the Cerberus, a small smuggling ship that was part of a much larger smuggling ring. She was born and raised aboard the Cerberus. There were other children when she was younger, but either accidents taking out their parents or other events taking them away eventually left her as the only child left on the ship.

When she was 13, the shuttle she and her parents were aboard was attacked and crashed on a planet. Unfortunately, Adelayd suffered severe damage to her left arm and left upper chest. Medical care was lacking on the Cerberus, which also wasn't in the area and took two days to reach the crash site. By the time the only crew member with medical training of any sort was able to attend to Adelayd's wounds, it was too late to save her arm.

Suddenly finding herself with one less arm and in the middle of a bunch of adults who deemed it necessary to triple the protections around her, Adelayd struggled to re-find her footing. It was only after Carter Frederickson, the brilliant engineer aboard the Cerberus, worked out a way to make her a robotic arm to replace the one she'd lost, that Adelayd was able to come to terms with her new life and start to move forward with her life.

By the time she was 16, she was back to helping her parents with their 'missions', though she honestly didn't understand the full implications of what they were up to. It was only after they were caught in the middle of a dangerous smuggling run that Adelayd learned just how illegal her parent's activities were.

After days of interrogation it was deemed that Adelayd had nothing to do with the smuggling ring and she was handed over to a foster family. She learned that her parents would be tried and sentenced for their smuggling crimes. Though, she never learned the outcome other than knowing that her parents were incarcerated somewhere. Her foster family was wonderful, though they did not understand their newest charge's fondness for the rather unsightly robotic arm.

Adelayd allowed small improvements to aid functionality or the aesthetic appeal of the arm, but refused to let them remove and replace the arm built for her by Carter. She would never explain to them why she was so against the very idea of removing the arm. All she would say was that it was the only thing she had left of Carter, since she was not allowed to know what had happened to him nor have any contact with him. Eventually, her foster parents realized that Adelayd had developed an infatuation with the man, who was the only constant in her life aside from her parents.

It took nearly four years of constant work, but Adelayd was brought up to Federation standards of education. She waffled back and forth about what she wanted to do for a career. Her main two choices were engineering or medical. Ultimately, her childhood influenced her into choosing a medical career. Her first stop was a civilian medical school. Though before she started her residency, she decided to switch to Starfleet Medical with hopes of one day getting back onto a ship.

It wasn't easy for her, especially with the bias against her choice of prosthetic arm. Adelayd struggled to keep up with her contemporaries, but in the end she graduated somewhere in the middle of her class. She wasn't expecting a very good assignment, due to the current feelings around anything robotic, but was pleasantly surprised to find herself assigned to the USS Tucker.
